Scripture Alone – New Paperback Edition

Written by R. C. Sproul, this book which was originally printed in 2005 as a hardcover book, has been re-printed as a paperback in order to be more economical. The list price is now $14.99 as opposed to the $17.99 price of the previous hardcover printing.

Summary:

In the twentieth century, the doctrine of Scripture became a particular focus of intense criticism. Some of R. C. Sproul’s most significant writings have been on the doctrine of Scripture. Not all this material is in print, and no volume has ever collected his best writings on this pivotal doctrine.

Scripture Alone consists of four chapters that originally appeared in symposium volumes edited by others and the author’s commentary on the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy. These writings constitute an important restatement of the evangelical doctrine of Scripture. Scripture Alone will help all Christians to stand firm in defense of the truth.

Two New Booklets in the BASICS OF THE FAITH Series

What Is the Incarnation? by William B. Evans

Want to make sense of the New Testament? Start with the incarnation—a truth that goes far beyond Christmas.

The miracle of Jesus’ incarnation touches on deep truths, speaking to the very nature of God and humanity. Evans shows how the Bible consistently supports the incarnation as actual fact. He also describes the early church’s efforts to express this great mystery and explores some key questions about the incarnation and its practical implications for our daily lives.

“Evans introduces us to both the teaching of Scripture and the loving reflections of some of the best minds of the Christian centuries . . . Will stimulate even greater love for and faith in the Lord Jesus.” – Sinclair Ferguson, Pastor, First Presbyterian Church

“Concisely and accessibly, Dr. Evans demonstrates . . . how crucial [the incarnation] is and how only the incarnate Son of God could save us.” – Robert Letham, Author, Union with Christ

Resources for Teens and Young Adults

Jon Nielson –

Have you ever been to a “Bible study” that didn’t have much “Bible” or “study” at all? Without a proper understanding of how to do it, students can be disappointed or scared away from studying the Bible. So what is Bible study—and can it work for high schoolers?

No stranger to teaching the Bible to teenagers, Jon Nielson confirms that real, meaningful Bible study is not only possible for students, but important. He takes students seriously and expects them to take their faith seriously. Unpacking five truths about the Bible—that it is God speaking, is powerful, is understandable, is literary, and is one story—he demonstrates how the Bible should be studied and how teenagers themselves can lead that study.

Karl Graustein with Mark Jacobsen-

Many teens are active in church youth programs, yet drop out of church later in life and never return. Other young adults rest on the merits of their parents’ faith without ever experiencing their own relationship with Jesus Christ. In this book, the authors seek to help teenagers who have grown up in Christian homes by reminding them of the blessings of growing up in a Christian home, warning them of some of the dangers they face, providing practical suggestions for avoiding these dangers, and urging them to think and live in a way that pleases God.
