Catching Foxes: A Gospel-Guided Journey to Marriage by John Henderson
About
“Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that are ruining the vineyards . . .” Song of Solomon 2:15
Why are foxes on the cover of this premarital guide? Because every marriage has “foxes” lurking inside it! We all have idols and selfish appetites—and, like the foxes in Solomon’s vineyard, they can cause untold destruction and heartache. In fact, how seriously a couple takes their own foxes will influence whether their marriage blooms and glorifies God, or is a shallow and pale imitation of the real thing.
In this workbook for both individuals and groups, biblical counselor John Henderson stimulates meaningful conversation and prayer between engaged couples. The book’s interactive format provides couples with a foundation for understanding what marriage is really about, becoming a godly husband or wife, and understanding conflict and resolving it biblically.
Sit down together, ask a married couple to come alongside you, and get ready to chase the foxes out of your relationship.
“Self-centered views of compatibility, relational chemistry, and personal needs are too often the focus of preparation and counseling for marriage. Catching Foxes provides a Christ-focused, gospel-saturated alternative.”
—Lee Lewis, Pastor of Biblical Soul Care, Radiant Church, Austin, Texas
“Finally a premarital book that cuts the fluff. . . . Brilliantly laid out, Catching Foxes provides couples the opportunity to engage with each other and mentors in honest conversation about vital topics.”
—Eliza Huie, Counselor, Life Counseling Center
“Catching Foxes is one of our go-to resources in all our pre-marriage counseling. . . . [This] interactive study guide provides couples with many opportunities to discover each other, learn relevant biblical truth, and build a rich foundation for their new life together.”
—Kevin Carson, Pastor, Sonrise Baptist Church, Ozark, Missouri
Only One Way: Christian Witness in an Age of Inclusion edited by Richard D. Phillips & Michael L. Johnson with contributions by D. A. Carson, David F. Wells, Peter R. Jones, Richard D. Phillips, J. Ligon Duncan III, Philip Graham Ryken, and R. Albert Mohler Jr.
About
OUR SOCIETY HAS CHANGED.
In our increasingly rootless culture, many people prefer questions over answers, hazy spirituality over concrete belief, and pluralism over the ultimate truth. Even some believers express this uncertainty—hesitant to assert that the gospel of Christ is the only true Good News.
Yet this bold assertion is exactly the witness that our world needs. Here seven notable pastor-scholars expose the limitations of postmodernism and remind us of our reasons for confidence. Are you prepared to take a stand alongside them?
- David F. Wells — One Among Many
- Albert Mohler — One Gospel
- Peter R. Jones — One God
- Richard D. Phillips — One Savior
- Philip G. Ryken — One Truth
- D. A. Carson — One Way
- J. Ligon Duncan III — One People
Each year, the Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology presents speakers and subjects to strengthen the church’s faith. This carefully edited selection concentrates on Christianity’s unified, exclusive claims.
“The Christian gospel is unintelligible apart from the uniqueness of Christ. . . . Here are seven scholars and pastors boldly upholding the only kind of Christianity worthy of the name.”
—Sinclair B. Ferguson, Ligonier Ministries
“Only one way? At a time when many evangelicals don’t seem so sure, these writers help us to confidently answer yes!”
—Michael S. Horton, Westminster Seminary California
“God’s people will know where to turn as the Lord tears down strongholds and redirects the world to the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”
—Burk Parsons, Saint Andrew’s Chapel, Sanford, Florida

Zephaniah, Haggai, Malachi by Matthew P. Harmon & Iain M. Duguid
About
To the people of Judah, distressed by changing political realities, it seemed that God had lost control of the situation.
Zephaniah warned of imminent judgment and pointed to hope close at hand: God is both Judge and a Refuge from judgment.
Haggai declared that God’s struggling people needed to reorder their priorities and invest in building the Lord’s house so that God’s renewed presence in their midst would bring renewed blessing.
Malachi, when doubt of the Lord’s love and watchfulness led the people into sin and distress, addressed their concerns and failings one by one. God would not abandon those who feared him, despite a history of rebellion against him.
Practical, devotional, and expositional, this commentary delves into the ways these three prophets point us to the sufferings of Christ, the forgiveness of God, and anticipated glories to come.
Why should you mess with this commentary? First, any volume that helps get Zephaniah into the church should be scooped up. Second, no other commentary will introduce you to ‘anorexic gods’! Third, Duguid and Harmon always keep Christ central and let grace be as delightful as it is—and their expositions aggravatingly challenge our attitudes and assumptions and in the process meddle with our cherished idols and bogus religion.”
—Dale Ralph Davis, Minister-in-Residence, First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, South Carolina
“The authors of this volume on Zephaniah, Haggai, and Malachi are to be commended for their exposition of these three prophetical books. In keeping with the REC series’ goal, they expound the message of the prophets, reflect theologically on what the Spirit of God intends to communicate to the body of Christ in every age, make insightful comments on the redemptive-historical progression of the unfolding of the Father’s purposes, and encourage God’s people to respond to the Spirit appropriately and practically by their faithful exposition of God’s Word.”
—Willem A. VanGemeren, Professor Emeritus of Old Testament and Semitic Languages, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School
About the Series
All the books in the Reformed Expository Commentary series are accessible to both pastors and lay readers. Each volume in the series provides exposition that gives careful attention to the biblical text, is doctrinally Reformed, focuses on Christ through the lens of redemptive history, and applies the Bible to our contemporary setting.
Knowing and the Trinity: How Perspectives in Human Knowledge Imitate the Trinity by Vern S. Poythress
About
Every human being has his or her own perspective and experiences truth from this viewpoint. Is it possible to discern perspectives that originate from the mystery of the Trinity—from the fact that one God exists in three persons? Once we know from the Bible that God is Trinitarian, we can begin to notice reflections of his Trinitarian character in both general and special revelation.
Vern Poythress is one of a small number of theologians who have developed and used a number of triads of perspectives (coherent groups of three) in theology. This book directly explores the relation of these perspectives to the Trinitarian character of God. It shows that a number of triads of perspectives show analogies to the Trinity. Understanding these analogies helps readers to perceive the Bible and the world as the creation of our Trinitarian God.
“God has revealed himself in creation and grace, his triune fingerprints evident wherever we turn. Any discussion of the doctrine of God should take Poythress’s important contribution seriously into consideration. I know nothing else quite like it.”
—Robert Letham, Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology, Union School of Theology
“This book is a window into ways of thinking about and living the Christian faith that will greatly benefit us all.”
—Richard L. Pratt Jr., President, Third Millennium Ministries
“A fresh discussion on how a robust understanding of God’s triune being deepens, challenges, and expands our notions of human knowledge and theological method.”
—Joseph E. Torres, Editor, John M. Frame’s Apologetics: A Justification of Christian Belief

Streams of Mercy: Prayers of Confession and Celebration by Barbara R. Duguid and edited by Iain M. Duguid
ABOUT
Have you taken time lately to consciously taste of God’s mercy?
We like to pretend we’ve not done anything that would put us in need of mercy. Faking perfection feels safer, more therapeutic—but it cuts us off from the Great Physician’s care. Recognizing and confessing our sin points us to our Savior and reminds us of God’s outpouring of love. It leads to celebration!
Inspired by the classic The Valley of Vision, this book provides short, specific prayers of confession in response to Scripture passages, giving gospel comfort on topics such as purity, justice, waiting, and hope. Ideal for use in church services or personal devotions, these prayers rejoice in God the Father’s mercy for his Son’s sake and ask for the Spirit’s help in pursuing holiness—closing with an assurance of pardon in Christ. Taste and see that the Lord is good.
